The Choice

"Do you want me to respect you or love you?"

Here we go again. There must be psychological term to call this kind of question.

"Darl, ...."

I Iook her in the eye. She looks anxious. "I choose 'respect'."

"Why?"

'Because 'love' is something you feel, and 'respect' is something you choose despite your feeling.

"Don't you want my love?"

"Of course I do! But love is something you feel on the good days, but respect is the act that keeps us together on the hard days."
